Rightpoint Supports Bike-to-Work Week

Steve Samnadda, Director, Technology

True/False: Rightpoint is officially registered for the Bike Commuter Challenge.

True: It’s a little friendly and extra-healthy (not to mention green!) competition sponsored by the Active Transportation Alliance, a non-profit dedicated to making bicycling, walking, and public transit safe in Chicagoland.  In support of this effort Rightpoint would like to encourage everyone to take their bike to work June 11th thru 15th.  Even if you bike just a few blocks to a CTA stop one day during that week – it counts!

True/False: My bike is expensive and won’t be safe outside.

False: The server anteroom will be retrofitted for bicycle storage all week!  Tables will be moved, so you probably don’t want to book a meeting there.

True/False: Bicyclists and drivers can’t share the road.

False: The City of Chicago has welcomed bicycling and made it a priority to add 25 miles of bicycle lanes every year.  Thanks Rahm!  (Also Jackson Blvd just became a protected bike lane)

True/False: Biking to work will make me arrive smelly and sweaty.  Rightpoint will be providing free deodorant handouts and towels during Bike-To-Work Week.  Ok, you were right about being sweaty but wasn’t it worth it?

False: Obesity is the fastest-growing health problem in the United States.  2/3 of American adults are overweight or obese.  Being physically active can reduce risk of diabetes, osteoporosis, heart disease, certain cancers, and much more.
